Philly-based indie-rock band Joy Again release their new single and video “Who Knows” via Arista Records.
“Who Knows” finds singer/guitarist Sachi DiSerafino professing his love with lyrics like “who knows how long I have been here, waiting for someone like you to appear”. Sachi adds, “Who Knows is a song about finally meeting that right person for you but maybe you’re not right for them. It’s a song about waiting for someone you love and having to deal with your own emotions hoping they’ll come around and feel the same way. This song was truly a blast to write and record and it feels like the most Joy Again song we’ve made in a long while!”
“Who Knows” follows the band’s critically acclaimed, fan-favorite single “Looking Out for You,” which has over 120 million total global streams to date, and upon release, charted on sought-after DSP playlists and #74 on Spotify’s US Top 200 Charts. In addition, the track landed in the Top 20 on TikTok’s Top 200 Charts (US, UK, CAN, AUS) and the song has over 600K creations to it on TikTok.
Last month, Joy Again supported Snail Mail on her U.S. tour with stops at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn and back to back nights at Union Transfer in their home town of Philly. They also wrapped their own headline U.S. tour with stops in Los Angeles and Washington, DC.
Stay tuned for new music from Joy Again this year.
ABOUT JOY AGAIN:
For Joy Again, inspiration indiscriminately bounces around like a superball. It ping-pongs between the Philadelphia band before it settles and crystallizes in one capriciously catchy bop after another. These six lo-fi alternative pop outliers draw hooks and melodies from the most unexpected corners as they create without limitations or boundaries. While attending boarding school, cofounders Sachi DiSerafino and Arthur Shea recorded on a four-track and began to post tunes to Bandcamp. Eventually those songs comprised the 30-track Forever in 2014. In the Philadelphia area, they performed at numerous low-key packed house party shows alongside the likes of fellow future star Clairo. Meanwhile, they shared proper stages with Wallows, Rostam, Car Seat Headrest, Hinds, Daywave, and Hoops in addition to appearing at 35 Denton, Savannah Stopover, and SXSW. Along the way, they signed to Heavy Duty Publishing and unveiled Piano in 2019, which they co-produced. Five years after its 2015 release, “Looking Out for You” gained unprecedented TikTok traction in 2020. Soundtracking videos of everything from contemplative breakup posts and daily routines (making breakfast) to arts and crafts and skateboarding, it inspired nearly half-a-million total creates and spoke to the band’s universal appeal. After generating north of 100 million streams independently and earning acclaim from The FADER, OnesToWatch, Atwood Magazine, Earmilk, Alt Citizen, NME,and more, this unpredictability shines on a series of singles and their forthcoming debut for Arista Records.
