TikTok sensation Kylesimps releases his new track and video, “Down Bad,” today via Groundwērk/MRNK Music Group. The 18-year-old Filipino-American’s new single is the first-ever Drill song written for Valentine’s day, and it showcases both humor and heartbreak.
Says Kyle, “‘Down Bad’ is not about being down bad; it is about taking pride in your down bad essence by bettering yourself to prevent ever feeling down bad again.”
Kyle’s previous single “S.I.M.P.” reached 12 million streams globally since its release in April last year. The accompanying video reached 5 million YouTube views, causing the single to chart #2 on Spotify’s US Viral Charts.
“Before the music came,” says Kyle, “I created content on TikTok. It took a while until I found my niche, and found out that writing and creating music was my passion. Artists that I look up to are Rex Orange County, Giveon, and PnB Rock. You might hear some of their influences in my own music. I create music because whether it be one or one million people, there will always be someone out there who can relate to it.”
