Rapper Token releases the new track and video “Sister” today. “Sister” is a tribute to Token’s big sister, who first introduced him to hip-hop as a kid. Produced by Latrell James (JID), it arrives with a new video featuring a cameo performance from his actual sister. The song follows last month’s “Toy Story,” and last year’s full-length album Pink is Better, which featured Benny the Butcher, Rico Nasty, JID and more.
About “Sister,” Token says, “My sister & I used to hate each other. One of the only times we got along was when we’d sell lemonade together, which inspired the first line.”
Token’s “Never Too Different’ Tour, a 42-date headlining U.S. tour, wa also announced last month and kicks off in late January 2023. The tour includes support from rising artists Ben Reilly, Nana and Marco Plus. Token is also offering special VIP experiences such as the opportunity for fans to rap a cypher for Token before each show.
Through a prolific, albeit quiet grind, Token has morphed into an outlier in hip-hop. Powered by razor-sharp wordplay, head-spinning verbal acrobatics, and off-kilter hooks, the Massachusetts-born rapper evolves at a dizzying pace. He has amasssed hundreds of millions of YouTube views and streams independently and received acclaim from XXL, Complex, No Jumper, Lyrical Lemonade and more. Token’s 2022 releases have reached over 50M streams; he has accumulated over 215M streams to date. He has over 1.4 million followers on TikTok and 1 million followers on YouTube.
